Supervision After Release

After a state-prison release, the next public question is often whether the person is under supervision in Pickens County. The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles is the statewide post-release supervision agency, and the Carrollton Field Office is the local office listed for Pickens County. A person can be released from ADOC to parole or mandatory release supervision, placed on probation by a court, or supervised through another ABPP mechanism. These records are different from the Pickens County jail's 48-hour release roster. The jail roster answers whether the person recently left local jail custody. ABPP records answer whether a released person is under supervision, whether a parole hearing was granted or denied, whether a reset date exists, whether a mandatory-release date applies, or whether public absconder information has been posted.

ABPP also distinguishes board decisions from physical release. A parole grant is not always the day the person leaves ADOC custody. ABPP guidance explains that when parole is granted, the agency verifies the home plan and coordinates with ADOC to schedule release. For that reason, a hearing result should be read as a board decision first. Actual release should be confirmed through ADOC, ABPP notification, the supervising field office, or records when the timing matters.

Confirm Supervision in Pickens County

Use ABPP when the release question is no longer about jail custody but about parole, probation, mandatory release, or supervision status. About the Carrollton Office

The Carrollton office is best understood as a post-release and court-supervision source. It does not hold inmates, operate a jail, or decide every release date by itself. ABPP's Institutional Parole Services materials describe coordination between ABPP and ADOC institutions and county jails. Institutional parole officers advise inmates about the parole process, obtain home and work plans for parole and mandatory-release reports, and serve parole hearing notices. Those processes can affect when a person appears in supervision records after ADOC custody.

Hearing Results and Reset Dates

ABPP public pages include scheduled parole hearings, current-year results, previous-year results, and a hearing-results archive. Those sources can show hearing dates, grants, denials, continuances, and pardon results when reported. The current and previous-year results pages explain an important point about reset dates: a reset date is the first month and year a person may be considered for placement on a future docket, not the date of a new hearing. That distinction prevents a reset notation from being mistaken for a physical release date.

Eligibility also differs from release. ABPP guidance says eligibility is calculated under Alabama Code Section 15-22-28 and can be affected by sentence, crime, jail credit, ability to earn good time, time served, and sentencing-court orders. Some split-sentence situations do not create ordinary parole eligibility. Mandatory release under Alabama Code Section 15-22-26.2 is a separate mechanism for eligible cases and places the person under supervision before end of sentence within statutory ranges.

Absconder Alerts and Violations

ABPP's Absconder Alerts page is a supervision-enforcement channel. It asks people with information on listed individuals' whereabouts to contact local law enforcement immediately. That page should not be used as a normal release-confirmation source. Most released people under supervision are not absconders. Use it only when the question is whether ABPP has publicly listed a supervised person in that enforcement context.

Conditions, alleged violations, warrants, arrests, and revocations can involve several offices at once. The field office may be the local supervision point, the court may have case records, ADOC may have custody information if the person returns to prison, and the Sheriff's Office may have a new booking if a local arrest occurs. For Pickens County release research, keep the supervision record separate from a new jail booking record and from the original court disposition.
